Meritorious is the highest award of the chapter that is decided by a committee to recognize someone that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to promote the AMTA and CT chapter, massage therapy, and the profession in general.
The chapter is honored to announce Cass Crewdson, as the recipient of the 2023 Chapter Meritorious.
Cass Crewdson epitomizes the AMTA Volunteer. She has been an active member of the CT-Chapter for 34 years. Cass is one of the first licensed massage therapists in the State of CT (license number 2). She has held various positions on the CT-Chapter board for 10 years, including Chapter President. She was also part of the former New England Regional Conference (NERC) Committe. Cass is also a member of the COT (Community Outreach Team – formally Community Service Massage Team) and a member of the former MERT (Massage Emergency Response Team); volunteering at Ground Zero in NYC, Sandy Hook, Boston Marathon Bombings, Food Share events, active shooter drills, Massage Therapy Awareness Day at the Capitol, Massage Therapy Awareness Week events and countless other events.
Within 2 years of joining AMTA, Cass started volunteering at the National level. For a very impressive 31 (thirty-one) years, Cass has served on multiple committees as a member and/or chair. There are only a handful of members in AMTA, who have such a long service record on the National or State level.
On the chapter level, Cass has been awarded Chapter Meritorious twice in the past (1994 and 2009) to recognize her contributions to the chapter. This year Cass is the first member to be recognized with this honor a third time. Cass was also awarded the Chapter and National Humanitarian Award in 2020, and the CT-Chapter Distinguished Service Award in 2022.
Cass has continually stepped up and volunteered at the Chapter and National level with enthusiasm and dedication. She is an inspiration and mentor to many. She is a quiet leader, and never looks for recognition. She does what she does because of her belief in the power of the massage therapy profession and AMTA. She is gracious and inclusive. Cass is Connecticut’s quiet leader and she inspires others to volunteer at any level.
Please join The CT-Chapter Leadership in congratulating Cass Crewdson as this year’s Chapter Meritorious.
