CBD

1. Consider obtaining WRITTEN CONSENT from your client before using products with CBD. You can do this during intake. Several large employers in this state hold federal contracts, which means they perform drug testing. CBD presence can result in a positive test, which can result in job loss. Protect yourself from litigation by ensuring you have documented consent.

Of note, this practice is a good idea for any topical you may put on your client.

2. AMTA does NOT allow CBD use at AMTA-sponsored events. AMTA policies represent all 51 chapters (50 states and Washington, D.C.), and CBD is not legal in all areas.

How does this affect you? Make sure any massage product you bring is CBD free at:

  • Hands-on Education
  • Sports Team Events
  • Community Outreach Team (formerly CSMT) Events, like Massage Therapy Awareness Day at the Capitol
